Progress in fungi melanin radioprotection

Abstract:

The progress of fungal melanins' radioprotection mechanism was summarized in four aspects:electron transfer and energy transmission, radicals scavenging, binding of metals, and photoprotection. The breakthrough in the future research will be focused on the determination of secondary structure, the energy transfer effect, and the radioprotection in organism.
